This is an unknown yellow flower I saw while hiking. I tried to look it up in identification books. The closest I could come was ragwort, but I don't think that is correct. Drawn with pen and watercolor (pencil sketch in field).
This was a quick sketch done of one of the old western-style buildings in a nearby town (Niwot) while sitting outside at a cafe. Part of my goal to draw where ever I go. Pen with colored pencil.
After painting the Deer Mountain view (below), I looked south, and saw Longs Peak framed by a ponderosa pine. I just love living near Rocky Mountain National Park!
The drawing was done with the Kuratake brush pen and then painted with watercolors.
I started to hike up the Deer Mountain trail in Rocky Mountain National Park, turned around and saw a spectactular view. I had to stop and try to capture it.
When the snow is partially melted off the mountains (12 - 14,000 feet tall), they kind of look like black and white cows... hence the "Cow Mountains". This was drawn with a Kuratake Brush Pen. This is the first time I've used it.
