Snow Tree Trunks
I drew these two tree trunks (limber pine and aspen) while snowshoeing in Rocky Mountain National Park. I didn't get far before my hands started to freeze! The black circles at the base of the trees are deep holes where the wind blew the snow away from the tree trunks. I'd never really seen that before moving to Colorado.

Amazing image! So glad you explained it, too. Your poor cold hands! I'm going xcountry skiing in Quebec next week and am already trying to figure out how to sneak some sketching in :D.
